On July 10th, one of our team received an urgent call in from their apparent manager: 2 kittens had been left to die on the back patio of an empty apartment. It was almost 100° outside, and someone had painted the kittens pink and blue with spray paint.
She took the kittens in, got them cleaned up and hydrated. They’ve been to the vet and checked out too – healthy except for some residual pink paint on them.
But there was a problem: Cats in Need and the foster network is maxed out for kitten season. They’d have to go to the shelter unless someone was able to take them in. It looked bleak, as the shelter is not a kill-free zone, and we’re overwhelmed with kitten needs.
And yet, this is what we live by:
“The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated” ~ Ghandi
And how, after surviving such cruelty, could we turn our backs on these little ones?
We couldn’t. One of our fosters is somehow making room. Pink & Blue (as they’re currently being referred to) are healthy and sweet. They’re going to get past this. Aren’t they just adorable?
If you can help us take care of Pink and Blue’s needs (vet bills, food, litter) we’d appreciate donations of any amount. Please use the secure link below to donate to Cats in Need (donations will be marked for Pink and Blue).
Thank you for caring about these little loves!
